Join Alamos Wildlands Alliance Second Annual Bird-A-Thon!January 30th - February 5Please help by joining our second annual Bird-A-Thon! With your help we can raise funds for our research and education goals. What is a Bird-a-thon?![]() A Bird-A-Thon is a fundraiser much like a walk-a-thon or bike-a-thon, except in a bird-a-thon teams count the number of different bird species seen or heard in a 24-hour period. Each team collects pledges from family, friends, relatives, neighbors or businesses, and then goes birding during the event week. When is it?January 30 through February 5 (each team picks a 24-hour period during this week). SuperBird Saturday is February 5, and is the last day a team can go birding before results are tallied on SuperBowl Sunday. How Does it Work?Bird watchers will enter their teams, choose a 24 hour period to bird-watch, and ask their friends and family for donations. People donating fixed amounts can donate any time online or with a check. After the team's bird-watching period the team will let their "per-species" donors know how many species they observed, and then those donors can donate online or by check. Remember, the counters do not have to be experts; some people even participate from their homes, counting the visitors to their feeder. Others cover dozens of miles in a day, racking up over 200 species in some areas. The key is to have fun! Any Questions?Just send an email to .
