The Alamos Wildlands Alliance is looking for highly motivated volunteer field interns for the winter field seasons.  Interns will work closely with Mexican counterparts and staff on AWA research projects in Southern Sonora.  Areas where interns will gain experience are; aquatic and land bird surveys, vegetation sampling, small and large mammal census, data entry, mist-netting, bird banding, and route finding.  Field crews are housed at the Navopatia Field Station for an affordable fee, and have access to kayaks, libraries, and all other amenities.  Housing is rustic and comfortable outdoor living.  Access to study areas requires walking long distances, driving, and kayaking.  Applicants should be undergraduates in good physical condition, willing to work in a thorn forest in the sun, and able to work well with others.  Knowledge of Spanish is a plus, but not required.  The area is little studied, remote, and a wildlife/plant rich area.  If you have a strong interest in Natural History and wish to gain experience in biological fieldwork please send a letter of interest to the address below.
